Elementary Autism Spectrum Disorder - Student Services Coordinator #1 - Two Positions

About The Position

Under the direct supervision of a certified staff member, the Student Services Coordinator #1 is responsible for working as a team member to assist with students in the special education classroom to meet instructional goals and objectives. This person will also have a role in certain non-instructional and concept/skill reinforcement tasks and providing students the opportunity for additional adult/student relationships.

Requirements

Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent
Demonstrated excellent attendance and punctuality
High level of communication and organizational skills

Nice To Haves

60 credit hours in an accredited university of college or an Associates Degree preferred
Experience working with early elementary students with special needs preferred
Bilingual skills helpful

Responsibilities

Assist the teacher in the instruction to students of academic, social, and motor skills
Assist with organization of daily classroom schedule and activities
Implements rules of student conduct and specific program expectations
Assists students with problem solving when adjustment and academic needs arise
Assists with providing feedback and monitors the classroom when students are working
Ability to assist the teacher with classroom activities outside of classroom instruction
All other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher and administrator
Ability to relate and work effectively with parents, staff, students, and the public in a multicultural and multiracial community
Knowledge and awareness of own cultural identity and how this influences behavior, and desire to learn about the cultural identity of others
Ability to establish and nurture an environment that promotes cultural competence and equitable treatment of staff, students, and patrons of the District
Ability to recognize that each person is a unique individual even as we celebrate their group cultural heritage
