About The Position

The assistant principal is a vital member of the leadership team and should assist in setting the vision for achieving and sustaining high levels of student achievement and strategically implementing the school’s mission through effective leadership of all stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, parents and the community. The assistant principal should assist the principal in overseeing all aspects of the instructional program, school environment and the operation of the school.

Requirements

  • Master's degree
  • minimum of five years successful teaching experience
  • valid Arkansas building level administrator license or eligible for the same

Responsibilities

  • Assist the principal in articulating a clear and compelling vision founded on strong and sustainable student achievement outcomes.
  • Assist in promoting high standards and expectations for all students and staff for academic performance and responsibility for behavior.
  • Manage, evaluate and supervise effective and clear procedures for the operation of the school consistent with its mission and goals including instructional programs, extracurricular activities, discipline systems to ensure a safe and orderly climate, building maintenance, program evaluation, personnel management, office operations and emergency procedures.
  • Assist in the improvement of student achievement by implementing the Arkansas model for teacher observation and evaluation with high levels of fidelity.
  • Effectively evaluate teachers' classroom management, instructional practice, professional development pursuits, interpersonal and leadership skills, and provide clear and actionable feedback, resources and support.
  • Model and promote the continuous use of data to inform practice and drive decision-making and instruction.
  • Establish a professional rapport with students and staff.
  • Display the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with students, parents and school personnel.
  • Serve as a role model for students, dressing professionally, demonstrating the importance and relevance of learning, accepting responsibility and demonstrating pride in the education profession.
  • Foster a positive school climate by assessing, planning, and communicating with the school community; promoting distributive leadership while demonstrating understanding of and respect and appreciation for cultural diversity.
  • Ensure compliance with all laws, Board policies and District procedures.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, seeking their support and advice, so as to create a cooperative relationship to support the student in the school.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
