About the position

The Elementary 2nd Grade Teacher at Charles Mack Elementary School is responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring, and assessing a comprehensive instructional program for students. This role focuses on educating the whole child through equitable practices and exemplary instruction, ensuring that each student acquires foundational skills necessary for success. The teacher will work collaboratively with families and other staff to support student learning and development.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, monitor, and assess a classroom instructional program consistent with District and Board goals.
  • Teach various subjects including reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, health, physical education, and music.
  • Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter as specified by state law.
  • Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.
  • Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff to address health, emotional, social, and learning problems.
  • Participate in curricular and extra-curricular school programs and meetings.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding instructional goals, student progress, and any issues.
  • Develop and communicate curricular and instructional plans to students and parents.
  • Assess student progress and communicate results to parents at grading periods.
  • Represent the District and assigned school to local and State groups as assigned.
  • Provide instruction to students with special needs in accordance with IEPs and participate in IEP meetings.
  • Maintain records regarding students in accordance with site and District policy.
  • Develop lesson plans and specific plans for substitutes as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree including courses needed to meet credential requirements and student teaching experience.
  • Valid California Teaching Credential.
  • English Learner Authorization (CLAD/BCLAD/EL/ELA/SDAIE or equivalent).
