About The Position

The Elementary Dean of Students will work with the building principal to perform school building administrative tasks supporting the district's Promise, Strategic Plan, and building Annual Action Plan (AAP). The principal will delegate responsibilities aimed at improving student achievement and closing learning gaps. The primary responsibility will be to lead or coordinate various elementary programs that promote safety, positive behaviors, student achievement, and school improvement through data and MTSS-related supports and interventions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and Washington State Teaching Certificate; endorsed and highly qualified for elementary.
  • Elementary teaching experience.
  • Elementary school leadership experience preferred.
  • Certificate in Educational Administration preferred.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of successful experience as an elementary teacher, advisor, or administrator is preferred.
  • Knowledge of and belief in the district's Promise, Strategic Plan, and expectations for student achievement.
  • Knowledge and skills to implement the school's AAP goals and strategies.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use various instructional and student management strategies.
  • Knowledge of school behavior management methods and critical implementation strategies.
  • Knowledge of elementary curriculum (K-5).
  • Knowledge of district Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying policy and procedures.
  • Knowledge of district and state attendance requirements (i.e., Becca Laws).
  • Skills in and ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Skills and abilities in organization, time management, and record keeping.
  • Skills in managing and promoting positive student behavior.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data using various technology tools and programs in service of closing learning gaps for students.
  • Ability to effectively meet the developmental needs of elementary school students.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with others.
  • Ability to interact positively and effectively with parents, students, staff, and administrators in service of the district's Promise, Strategic Plan, and school's AAP.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
