WORK HOURS FOR THIS POSITION: Day shift, full-time. The Electrophysiology Technician Trainee is responsible for providing patient care pre, peri and post-invasive cardiac procedures under the direct supervision of an Electrophysiology Lab RN, RT and Electrophysiologist.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Health Science or related field.
  • ACLS within 1 yr of hire date.
  • BCLS.
  • Obtain RCES certification within 1 yr of eligibility

Responsibilities

  • Delivers professional care to patients under direct supervision of EP RN’s , RT’s and MD’s.
  • Participates in the performance of various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures of EP relating to procedures performed in the lab.
  • Participates in the performance of various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the EP and other department.
  • Provides accurate documentation of care provided in accordance with Hospital policies and procedures.
  • Monitors hemodynamic status of patients and responds appropriately to fluctuation of parameters.
  • Acquires and checks supplies, and equipment needed for EP procedure.
  • Demonstrates proper operation and handling of EP equipment and supplies for procedures.
  • Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during procedure to prevent post-operative infections.
  • Assists in preparing the surgical suite with EP supplies and equipment appropriate for the procedures.
  • Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedure and ensures they are in good working condition.
  • Scrubs, gowns, and gloves self and members of the surgical team.
  • Assists with draping sterile field.
  • Periodic review with preceptor to assess progress
