The Cardiovascular Intervention Center is a core element of the Smidt Heart Institute, performing more than 8,000 procedures a year. The department serves the populations of neonates to and including geriatrics. In this twelve-laboratory facility, we perform a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for coronary artery disease, heart muscle function and heart valve dysfunction.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Graduate of an accredited JCERT training program required
  • ACLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required
  • ARRT - Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CI) required
  • A minimum of 5 years of Cardiac Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology, Surgical Center or acute care experience required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • RCIS or RCES from Cardiovascular Credentialing International preferred
  • CEPS or CCDS from International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assists in all procedures performed in the Cardiovascular Intervention Center and is a member of the Electrophysiology Lab
  • Provides a safe patient care environment, maintains and operates the physiological monitoring/recording system for both interventional cardiac and electrophysiology studies
  • Assists physicians by functioning as scrub tech, monitor role or assistant circulator, archives all digital images and documents all actions taken by the EP Lab
  • Responsible for being able to setup and operate all equipment within the department that may be required for a given procedure including but not limited to: Electrophysiology studies, Ablation, Pacemakers and ICD implants
  • Serves as a lead preceptor for peers, students and other staff members
  • Works with leadership to implement new and/or changes in procedures and protocols
  • Assumes responsibility in performance improvement activities and other department/organizational committees, such as The Joint Commission related topics, safety audits, turn around time (TAT) projects, and customer service
