Boeing Defense & Space (BDS) is seeking an associate or experienced Electrophysics Engineer/Scientist to support the Vertical Lift (VL) program Platform Systems team located in Mesa AZ. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and sustaining military systems and will have an electrical power background. The selected candidate will report to the Electrical Power System team.   • Assist in the development, validation, and verification of Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) requirements for various electromagnetic subsystems and components in accordance with the work scope.
  • Read and interpret schematics, cable harnesses, diagrams, whitepapers, technical papers and/or studies to support in the development of analyses.
  • Follow documented processes, procedures, and specifications that support design development and manufacture of E3 compliant subsystems.
  • Perform trade studies, modeling, simulation and other forms of analysis to predict component and interconnects performance and to optimize design around established requirements.
  • Define and witness supplier Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) subsystem-level qualification testing per MIL-STD-461 and/or RTCA/DO-160 to validate the performance of subsystem designs to requirements.
  • Collect and analyze supplier performance documentation (such as EMI Control Plans, EMI Test Procedures, EMI Test Reports, etc) to ensure compliance to requirements.
  • Define and conduct Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) system/aircraft-level qualification to verify performance is compliant with the requirements per ADS-37A-PRF/MIL-STD-464.
  • Provides support to products throughout their lifecycle from manufacturing to customer use by recommending engineering solutions to issues.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams in order to interface between the design, manufacturing, and integration of new systems.
  • Prepare documentation in a clear, accurate, and comprehensive manner.
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 1+ years of work experience related to Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3).
