Crown is hiring Full-Time Electronics Technician in Anchorage, Alaska to join our team of floating electronics installers. This position is 25% travel throughout the state of Alaska and with a workspace out of Anchorage. Monday - Thursday 6am-430pm. This position requires a level of confidence to work in geographic isolation, so the candidate must have the technical knowledge and aptitude to create solutions in unique situations. The Electronics Technician will receive technical advice from a Technical Manager and/or Engineer, however will still be expected to work largely in a stand-alone capacity due to the nature of the work, and will need to be a de-facto on-site Electronic/Communications Subject matter Expert (SME).

  • Conducting a pre-installation meeting
  • Removal and disposal of existing communications equipment
  • Coordinating frequency outages
  • Installation of new radio racks and radios, along with other GFE
  • Installation of new/upgraded conduit and cable trays
  • Removal and replacement of antennas
  • Installation of junction boxes
  • Electronics testing procedures
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Electronics Degree or at least 5 years of related experience installing/fabricating Military, Federal or Commercial Radio electronic equipment or fiber optic cable
  • Experience installing/fabricating FAA National Airspace (NAS) communications systems and cabling and equipment
  • Working knowledge of the software and alignment of VHF and UHF AM radios
  • Setup capability for the RCE (radio control equipment)
  • Thorough understanding in the use of manual and power tools, test equipment such as multimeter, ohmmeter, power meter, oscilloscope, etc.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel
  • Understanding and ability to connect Telco requirements (including Commercial Telco, RCL, Field Cable, Fiber Optics, etc.)
  • Ability to take initial electronic baseline readings and generate necessary paperwork FRDF (Facility Reference Data File)
  • Ability and/or experience to interface with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
  • Ability to provide leadership during a site installation
  • Understanding of the practical implications of electrical and electronic circuitry
  • Ability to read, understand and implement engineering diagrams and electrical wiring diagrams
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and electronic equipment necessary within the scope of a radio replacement project
  • Ability to stand, sit or crouch in one position for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift and move objects up to 75 lbs
  • Ability to move objects weighing up to 350 lbs with the use of hand truck or pallet jack
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints
  • Ability to occasionally perform assigned work under severe time restraints
  • Ability to work with minimal to non-standard supervision
  • Willingness to travel 25%
  • Ability to climb and work at heights in excess of 60'
  • Team player with ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Ability to pass a Government background check
  • Ability to work non-standard hours depending on site requirements
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
