Who will you be working with: Your primary interactions will include fellow Electronics Technicians, line leaders, supervisors, quality assurance specialists, and engineering support teams. You'll collaborate in a technical, fast-paced environment that values teamwork, precision, and continuous learning. Your work will involve direct engagement with production line team members, maintenance specialists, and cross-functional colleagues who share a commitment to maintaining high standards of electronic equipment testing and repair, such as quality and safety. The team emphasizes mutual support, knowledge sharing, and a collaborative approach to solving complex technical challenges in locomotive electronics. How will you make a difference? Our Electronics Technicians are responsible for testing and inspecting precision electronical and mechanical devices, documenting and reporting tests results and troubleshooting issues. This role focuses on working with locomotive electronics equipment, including cab control, signaling equipment, bench level test equipment and board-level troubleshooting. For this position we offer two possible schedules: Monday - Thursday: 5:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday - Thursday 6:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Your schedule will be assigned upon hire. What do we want to know about you: Minimum Qualifications and requirements: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.) Preferred: Associate's degree in electronic technology, or Equivalent military certification or work experience in electronics repair.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of common test equipment i.e., oscilloscopes, multi-meters, signal/function generators, frequency counters, ESS chamber, etc.
  • Ability to read, understand and analyze schematic drawings.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, test procedures, engineering and graphic work instructions, and technical documentations - accurately and consistently in English.
  • Experience in stand-alone testing of electronic boards.

Nice To Haves

  • +3 years of experience as a bench technician, troubleshooting and repairing electronic assemblies to the component level.
  • Experience in electronics new manufacturing/remanufacturing work environments.
  • Familiarity IPC, recent IPC training, and ESD requirements.
  • Skilled board level testing, troubleshooting and use of stand-alone internal equipment.
  • Background in electronics production or prior military electronics experience.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft OS, HyperTerminal, Pro-comm, or Tera Term software for testing.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to receive, implement feedback and adapt process, procedural or behavioral changes as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform functional tests on products at the sub-assembly and final assembly level.
  • Troubleshoot and repair failed products or subassemblies to the board level.
  • Identify root cases and apply preventative measures while fixing the product.
  • Follow the ESD (Electric Static Discharge) and IPC (Institute for printed circuits), processes and procedures to performed board level re-work of component exchange.
  • Conduct test based on written procedures, verify current revision levels, and visually inspect product for appearance and workmanship prior to the final approval.
  • Repair and replace electronic components, using through-hole, SMT component repairment, hot air or traditional soldering methods.
  • Locate and interpret product documentation, including schematic drawings.
  • Meet quality standards in line with internal quality assurance requirements, AAR and FRA protocols.
  • Complete daily work orders/schedule based on productivity levels assigned by supervisors and line leads.
  • Adapt to changing priorities based on customer demands.
  • Maintain and calibrate test equipment as needed in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and manage chemical shelf life.
  • Willing to cross-train and support other team members as needed
  • Follow all safety protocols and PPE requirements.
  • Keep the work area clean and organized on a daily basis.
  • Follow 5S protocol
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
