About The Position

This is a pipeline requisition for potential shipboard Electricians/ Electronic Technicians for fleet modernization in the Hampton Roads, VA area. These Electricians will be supporting our ITSIS program working on active surface ships and/or shore-based communication facilities using various mechanical tools to install, upgrade and remove industrial equipment to assist with alterations and installations. Selected candidate will be required to travel to shipyards and military bases located around or out of the country when not assigned to a local task. Per Diem available based on location when on travel, travel and lodging expenses are covered by the company.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance and DBIDS base access throughout employment.
  • Must have experience troubleshooting and repairing malfunctions to eliminate problems in minimum time.
  • Must be able to work from blueprints, engineering sketches, charts or work orders as well as written and verbal instruction.
  • Must be capable of using various electrical/electronic measuring instruments.
  • High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 2 years of related experience.
  • Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer candidates with an active Secret clearance or above.
  • Prefer candidates with at least 4-8 years of experience.
  • Prefer candidates who have marine electrician experience for installing, repairing, and troubleshooting fiber optic cables and connectors on Navy and other marine vessels IAW NAVSEA STD 009-123 Fiber Optic and/or NAVSEA STD 009-073 Multi-pin Copper.
  • Experience in Shore C4I is preferred.
  • Experience in large NIWC/SPAWAR integrated installation contracts is preferred.
  • Prefer technical/professional certifications.
  • Prior Quality Assurance certifications are preferred.
  • Shipyard Competent Person (SCP) certification is preferred.
  • Prior AIT or active-duty experience on current active class ships is preferred.
  • Candidates possessing a current U.S. Travel passport are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the ITSIS program working on active class surface ships and/or shore-based communication facilities.
  • Use various technical tools to install, upgrade, remove and troubleshoot fiber optic cables and connectors.
  • Install, operate, maintain, repair and modify equipment.
  • Perform a variety of maintenance and technical support on products such as equipment, integrated systems and subsystems, and software at customer and/or field locations.
  • Analyze and evaluate products and related performance.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions to eliminate problems in minimum time.
  • Maintain effective customer communications and relations.
  • Provide onsite training of customer support personnel.
  • Assist in the development and use of technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports.
  • Perform duties outside of specialty to complete installation or work assignment.
