About The Position

RTX, the world's largest aerospace and defense company with 195,000 employees, is seeking an Electronics Technician Maintenance II for its Raytheon business unit. Raytheon leverages over 100 years of engineering expertise to provide solutions for national defense. This position is part of the Relocatable Over The Horizon Radars (ROTHR) program, which Raytheon has operated and maintained for over 30 years. The ROTHR system consists of three radars, each with remote transmit and receive sites, operated 24 hours a day from a Consolidated Operations Control Center in Chesapeake, Virginia. The primary mission of ROTHR is to track and report the movement of aircraft and ships involved in illicit narcotics trafficking from South America towards Central America and the United States. This specific role is located in Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico, and requires working alternating 12-hour shifts (6 am – 6 pm and 6 pm – 6 am). The technician will be responsible for systems-level operation, monitoring, and maintenance of ROTHR receiver site and communications equipment.

Requirements

  • Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
  • Must have five years of related experience.
  • Ability to use test equipment and systematic procedures for troubleshooting, overhaul, fault isolation, and repair of major electronic systems comprised of receiver and transmitter functions.
  • Must have a clean motor vehicle driving record to obtain authorization to drive company vehicles.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • At least one year of technician experience in assembly, overhaul, repair, modification, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of communications, radar or digital electronics systems of the same complexity and magnitude as ROTHR.
  • Previous or current security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform systems level operation and monitoring of ROTHR receiver site equipment.
  • Performs organizational, preventative and intermediate level maintenance on ROTHR receiver site and communications equipment, consisting of Phased Array Antennae, RF Hardware, Digital Hardware, Microprocessors, Minicomputers, PC farms and peripheral equipment.
  • Solve complex problems by interpreting manufacturers' manuals or similar documents.
  • Plan work sequence and select and use appropriate resources and test equipment.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned and required.
