About The Position

The Electronics Technician I position is accountable to the Work Group Lead (WGL) and the Mission Support Services (MSS) Manager for the overall support of in-scope work in WBS 130. This includes supporting, maintaining and development of the Telemetry and Radar Acquisition data Processing Systems (TRAPS), Mission Control Centers (MCC), data distribution and recording systems, Mobile Operations Facilities (MOF), Range Safety Station (RSS) and project owned Ground Control Stations (GCS). This position receives technical guidance from WGL, Field Service Engineers, and other senior technicians. Work is reviewed for compliance with accepted practices.

Requirements

  • Electronics Technician I will have some formal education in a relevant field and have demonstrated technical abilities. This can include standard industry certifications.
  • Electronics Technician I: no experience required, one year or more is desirable.
  • The candidate must have a strong technical background with an emphasis on operations and maintenance of highly specialized telemetry and radar data processing systems. Research display applications for display building, basic programming changes in C, C# and XML. Operation and maintenance of telemetry hardware and cable fabrication and termination with an emphasis on electronic theory. General knowledge of MM and SM fiber optic systems and applications. In depth knowledge of PC hardware and software, imaging, operating systems, networking, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to: Work under the pressure of a real-time mission environment. Configure and operate highly specialized telemetry processing systems with the ability to recognize and correctly resolve problems in time critical situations. Communicate effectively in both oral and written form; apply the principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data and establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Establish and maintain successful working relationships. Interact effectively with system users. Analyze data and resolve problems. Work in a team environment; work under deadlines; Use a computer to input and retrieve information and data; Perform work in an ISO compliant/certified environment. Ability to obtain and maintain a tower climbing certification. Ability to connect and configure desktop PCs and Laptops and other video sources to video distribution systems, including monitor displays and projectors in support of conference room support. Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance. Ability to obtain and maintain a USAF Flight Line Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Operate highly specialized telemetry real-time data processing and post flight processing systems in accordance with established procedures
  • Perform periodic maintenance on highly specialized telemetry real-time data processing and post flight processing systems in accordance with established procedures
  • Perform diagnostics and repair of instrumentation/data acquisition system components, subsystems, and test devices. This includes inspections, operational exercises, and adjustments in accordance with specifications, drawings, manuals, and best practices. The Electronics Technician I will assist with maintenance, usually under the direction of a higher-level technician.
  • Interface with customers and other operations personnel in a professional manner.
  • Utilize PC based peripheral systems in daily performance of job requirements.
  • Maintain procedures, records, logs, mission/system databases, and adhere to the configuration control processes.
  • Conduct pre and post flight checks and troubleshoot instrumentation/data acquisition systems to meet the flight test mission schedule. Electronics Technician I will assist with troubleshooting, usually under the direction of a higher-level technician.
  • Electronics Technician I will assist the WGL and other higher-level technicians with the design, development, fabrication, installation and testing of hardware and software system modifications and upgrades.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, to include supporting other work centers during surges. This may include cross training into other function areas to meet overall contract performance objectives. Perform housekeeping of the work area and equipment according to specified standards. Operate personnel lifts, government vehicles and climb antenna towers. Troubleshoot computer systems, networks, switches, and routers. Perform display buildup, compile 'C' real-time source code and utilize command lines tools to interact with systems.
