The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Electronics Technician 2, Lockshop/ Facilities Management [R0149551] ROLE of the POSITION Electronics Technicians perform detailed work requiring the application of electronic principles and practices involving the installation, maintenance, calibration, repair, programming and modification of a variety of electronic and computerized equipment. This position will implement a preventative maintenance schedule and perform preventative maintenance such as conducting routine inspections, cleaning and servicing, and making adjustments and minor repairs to prevent malfunction and prolong the life of video equipment and systems. Incumbent will troubleshoot, diagnose, maintain and repair video cameras, keyless access systems, monitors, radios (including mobile base stations and repeaters), and telephone interconnect. Other responsibilities include installing cabling and cable distribution systems in various facilities allowing systems to be interconnected and distributed to offices and buildings as necessary. Maintaining assigned inventory of parts and equipment and maintaining replacement and repair stock by researching part numbers, descriptions, and prices; coordinating with vendors, private industry, federal and state agencies in the purchase, repair, maintenance and modification of an agency’s electronic and computerized equipment. Ability to install or remove and reinstall wiring, computer cables, power panels, circuit breakers, lighting, switches and receptacles in accordance with code requirements; study blueprints and schematics, calculate electrical load; design new circuits based on the load; gain access to components and systems; perform installation; update blueprints; inspect electrical systems of video cameras for conformance with specifications and code requirements. Assisting contractors by providing information regarding the existing structure, equipment, systems and required modification; review bids and work completed by contractors for quality and conformance with specifications and codes as assigned. It is important for the incumbent to prepare and maintain detailed documentation of work completed, associated files and vendor information for the assigned work area in order to provide a tracking system for completed maintenance and installation; establish and update records and schematics pertaining to equipment installed and maintained; perform software and configuration changes and updates. Must have working knowledge of: State and agency policies and procedures pertaining to work unit operations, personnel, and purchasing; State and local building codes, National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA 70, NAC 477, NRS477, and O.S.H.A. requirements. Ability to establish and maintain records and files and prepare reports pertaining to operations, materials, and supplies. A current Class C Driver’s License is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment. The schedule is Monday through Thursday 6:00 am to 4:30 pm and is subject to change dependent upon departmental and University needs.
