About The Position

The electronics research associate will verify the design of custom analog and digital electronics for research in the area of experimental neuroscience. The initial focus is on testing a sparse array of photometers under low light conditions. The position entails working with the research team in designing, prototyping, fabrication and debugging of specialized analog and digital circuits. In addition, the research associate will design, write, and debug code for the data acquisition card, and develop and test the data logging and wireless streaming systems. Experiments will be performed at laboratories located at UNC .

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to work on advanced circuit designs for use in leading-edge physics measurements
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Necessary technical skills in surface mount electronics
  • Demonstrated experience in designing both analog and digital electronics for a variety of research functions is required, including mixed signal, RF, digitizers, optoelectronics, and low-noise circuits
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electronic equipment as needed
  • Expected to work with the engineer, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows on custom electronics associated with the research program at APS

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering or a similar degree in a related field and experience in the field of electronics and in a laboratory environment
  • All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
