About The Position

Join us as an Electronics Projects Engineer and Lab Manager, where you'll play a key role in supporting electrical and computer engineering education and research. Requirements

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field, or three years of experience in a related position including at least two years of experience in analog and digital circuit design.
  • Required skills include: working knowledge of analog and digital circuit design, project management, and team leadership skills.

  • MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering or related field
  • Supply chain management experience

Responsibilities

  • Manage Student Engineers : Lead and mentor a team of 10-15 student engineers, conduct safety and other training, and oversee multiple design projects that support BYU’s teaching and research mission.
  • Oversee EPICenter Operations : Manage inventory with thousands of components, repair and maintain equipment, oversee machine and wood shop activities, certify equipment users, and improve efficiency and processes.
  • Support Student Learning : Design and teach lab exercises, assist students with circuit design projects, guide senior Capstone efforts, and provide troubleshooting expertise in both introductory and advanced laboratories.
  • Design Circuit Systems : Develop analog and digital systems for coursework and faculty-led research, assist in brainstorming technical solutions, and help students to create educational demonstrations for broader impact.
  • Manage Supply Chain : Research and purchase components, track inventory, and optimize storage of the department’s equipment.
  • Support Department Goals : Coordinate resources for department events, assist with infrastructure projects, maintain lab functionality, and repair equipment as needed.
