About The Position

We’re ALSO, an electric mobility company originally conceived as a part of Rivian. We’re a passionate team of builders, dreamers, doers and innovators, focused on creating entirely new (not to mention, innovative and delightful) vertically integrated, small EVs designed to meet the global mobility challenges of today and tomorrow. Our mission is to inspire everyone to ride ALSO—replacing many local car, truck and SUV miles with ones on vehicles that are more affordable, more enjoyable and 10-50x more efficient. ALSO is looking for an Electronics Mechanical Integration Engineer to design the electromechanical actuators that mechanize critical functions of next generation light electric vehicles

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in the design and development of electromechanical systems, particularly those involving wireless communications and audio features.
  • Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software (CATIA preferred) and 2D drafting.
  • Experience with PCBA / flex integration, connector selection and wire harness design.
  • Hands-on experience in prototyping and fabrication techniques, including machining, 3D printing, and assembly.
  • Familiarity with design for manufacturability (DFM) principles and experience with mass production processes (stamping, forging, casting, injection molding).
  • Experience in product launch and working with contract manufacturers.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test onboard connectivity electronics for integration into light electric vehicle platforms.
  • Create and maintain detailed 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings for components and assemblies, ensuring design for manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers to define electromechanical interfaces, integrate PCBAs, flex circuits, and wire harnesses into electromechanical systems, ensuring seamless functionality and reliability.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, including FEA and physical testing, to validate design performance and ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Prototype and iterate on designs using hands-on fabrication techniques in a lab environment, rapidly turning concepts into functional prototypes.
  • Work closely with contract manufacturers to oversee the production of components, ensuring quality control and adherence to design specifications for mass production processes like stamping, forging, casting, and injection molding.
  • Participate in the product launch process, providing technical support and ensuring smooth transition from development to production.

Benefits

  • Robust health coverage. Excellent health, dental and vision insurance covered up to 100% by ALSO with FSA & HSA options.
  • One Medical membership and dedicated insurance advocates.
  • Rich fertility and family building benefits with Progyny.
