Electronics Manufacturing Engineer Intern
About The Position
Joby Aviation is seeking a motivated Manufacturing Engineering Intern to join our Powertrain and Electronics team in San Carlos, CA. In this hands-on role, you’ll support the manufacturing ramp-up of electronic equipment and gain exposure to a wide range of products—from flight computers to pilot inceptors. You will collaborate closely with a cross-functional team that includes Quality, Production, Design, Supply Chain, and more. We’re looking for someone who is highly organized, self-driven, and eager to take ownership of projects while working under the guidance of experienced mentors. This is an exciting opportunity where your contributions will have a rapid and meaningful impact across the organization due to the fast-paced environment at Joby Aviation.
Requirements
- Pursuing undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering or manufacturing engineering; previous co-op, internship, or related work experience required
- Heading into junior or senior year of undergraduate degree or above
- Available Summer 2026
- Excellent problem solving, communication, and teamwork skills while working with cross functional teams
- Strong analytical and practical understanding of mechanical design and design for manufacturing
- Ability to take a proactive hands-on approach to problem solving, prototyping and iterative design
- Proficient with 3D CAD and 2D drawing software
- Practical manufacturing or machine shop experience
Responsibilities
- Create and develop manufacturing work instructions.
- Develop processes for manufacturing, assembly or manufacturing testing.
- Design and create drawings for tools, jigs, and fixtures.
- Improve existing production line, processes, procedures fixtures and tools.
