About The Position

The Electronics Hardware Engineer II is part of the Electrical and Electronics team responsible for hardware development for electronics systems. You will participate in all aspects of solution delivery including specification, design, prototyping, testing, certification, and manufacture.

Requirements

  • BS degree or higher in electrical engineering, electronic engineering, power electronics, or related discipline.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Mobile motor controller/inverter product design (full lifecycle) experience, ideally in the 600kW+ power range AND/OR full lifecycle high voltage battery management system product design experience, preferably for traction applications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and use of power semiconductor devices in high voltage (>400V) power electronics products (Si MOSFET, Si IGBT, and SiC).
  • Knowledge of EMI filter design and DC/DC converters.
  • In-depth understanding of voltage insulation testing and safety.
  • EMI/EMC compliance testing and power electronics or high voltage electronics certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in product development for aerospace or high voltage electric vehicle batteries is an advantage.
  • Experience with airborne systems certification requirements, guidelines, and testing (FAR Part 23 & 33, ASTM F39 & F44, RTCA DO-160G, DO-178C, DO-254), is preferred. Alternatively, experience with ISO26262 is acceptable.
  • Demonstrated ability working in cross functional technical teams, fostering collaboration and innovation.
  • Technical writing skills to create engineering documentation within a certification and quality framework.

Responsibilities

  • Design, test, validate and certify high-power electronic hardware for aviation applications, both in the laboratory and on-site, to ensure compliance with DO-254 and DO-160G.
  • Perform circuit and/or system design, integration, and test at circuit board, enclosure, and system level.
  • Modelling and performing simulations using LTspice, Multisim, Matlab/Simulink and PCB layouts with Altium or other similar tools.
  • Setup and testing of motor/generator/inverter prototypes and high voltage battery management and control circuit prototypes including developing test procedures, measurement, and reporting.
  • Document life cycle data, detailed designs, design justifications, change management, and disposition of non-conformances.
  • Draft, review, and validate requirements to ensure compliance with aerospace development lifecycle processes.
