About The Position

Seasats designs and deploys autonomous surface vessels that operate at sea for months at a time. As we scale vessel production and push our electronics systems further, we’re hiring an Electronics Engineering Manager to manage and grow the electronics engineering team and to own the successful delivery of all electronics programs at Seasats. The Electronics Engineering Manager ensures the electronics team executes on the company’s strategy, meets program priorities, and delivers reliable, manufacturable electronics systems on aggressive timelines. A background in electrical engineering is required to make informed technical judgments, but this role focuses primarily on leadership, coordination, and accountability rather than hands-on design work.

Requirements

  • A background in electrical or electronics engineering, with enough prior hands-on experience to evaluate designs, risks, and tradeoffs
  • 3+ years of experience managing and developing engineers, including hiring, performance management, and career growth
  • A track record of leading electronics teams through complex hardware programs and delivering results on real timelines
  • The ability to set direction, establish priorities, and align team execution with company goals
  • Strong engineering judgment and the confidence to guide technical decisions without being the primary implementer
  • Experience taking electronics systems from early development through production and sustained deployment
  • Clear and direct communication skills, including the ability to surface risks early and keep leadership aligned
  • Comfort operating in a fast-moving, in-office, hardware-focused environment where clarity and follow-through matter

Responsibilities

  • Directly managing the electronics engineering team, including goal-setting, performance management, hiring, onboarding, and career development
  • Owning delivery and outcomes for all electronics programs, including schedules, scope, and cross-team coordination
  • Setting technical direction and engineering standards in partnership with senior engineers (without acting as the primary designer)
  • Prioritizing work across multiple concurrent projects and ensuring resources are aligned with company goals
  • Leading design reviews and readiness reviews to ensure quality, reliability, and manufacturability expectations are met
  • Identifying technical, schedule, and organizational risks early and driving mitigation plans
  • Partnering with production and QA to ensure smooth transitions from development to manufacturing
  • Establishing and improving processes for documentation, testing, production handoff, and post-deployment support
  • Communicating progress, risks, and tradeoffs clearly to company leadership

Benefits

  • Competitive insurance (including a 99% employer-covered Gold HMO plan or other options)
  • 401k matching up to 4% of salary
  • Four free lunches per week
  • An employee activity fund
  • A pet-friendly office
  • Unlimited/Flex PTO
