Mechanical Design & CAD Development 1. Create and refine 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for components, assemblies, and prototypes using Solidworks. 2. Support design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and design-for-assembly (DFA) improvements. 3. Conduct tolerance stack-ups and basic mechanical calculations under engineering guidance. Rapid Prototyping & Fabrication Support Assist in building physical prototypes using 3D printing, CNC machining, laser cutting, or hand fabrication. Perform prototype assembly, testing, and iterative refinements. Document build steps, improvements, and design changes. Testing, Validation & Experimentation Set up and run CAD Simulations for Stress, and CFD as needed. Gather, analyze, and visualize data to support engineering decisions. Identify failure modes and assist in root-cause analysis. Electronics Integration & Hardware Support Support integration of sensors, microcontrollers, power systems, and basic electronics into mechanical assemblies. Assist with PCB population, simple wiring, soldering, and harness routing. Perform debugging of electromechanical systems under mentorship from engineers. Embedded Programming & Automation Write or modify firmware for microcontrollers (e.g., Arduino, ESP32, STM32, Raspberry Pi). Develop simple scripts or tools (Python, C/C++, MATLAB, etc.) to automate data collection, test rigs, or simulations. Support development of prototypes with interactive or intelligent behaviors. Engineering Research & Documentation Conduct research on materials, mechanisms, manufacturing processes, and emerging technologies. Draft clear technical documentation, test reports, BOMs, and design notes. Contribute to engineering review presentations or design rationale summaries. Cross‑Functional Collaboration Collaborate with industrial designers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and software teams. Participate in brainstorming sessions, concept development, and design critiques. Communicate design constraints, prototype results, and engineering insights clearly. Lab & Workshop Operations Maintain organization, safety, and cleanliness of engineering labs and prototyping spaces. Manage component inventories, prepare test setups, and assist with equipment calibration. Ensure proper handling of tools, machinery, and electronics equipment.
