Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering plus 6+ years of experience in industrial electronics, preferably with a focus on power electronics and electric machinery (PEEM) design.
  • 1+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing, embedded systems design, and R&D.
  • Strong technical knowledge spanning low-voltage DC through three-phase systems.
  • Proficiency with engineering tools like PSPICE, MATLAB, Simulink, and OrCAD.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and computational skills.
  • Ability to obtain (or already hold) a 'Q' security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or 12+ years’ experience in industrial electronics design.
  • Experience in the nuclear industry or other highly regulated environments.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes and standards (UL, IEEE, NEC, ANSI, OSHA, NUREGS).
  • Background in electric motor design/manufacturing or embedded software development.
  • Passion for solving complex engineering challenges with innovative, real-world solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deploy next-generation control and drive electronics for Oak Ridge, TN and Piketon, OH sites.
  • Create detailed design packages and test electronics.
  • Troubleshoot complex systems.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Lead projects and mentor engineers.
  • Interact with Centrus leadership and the U.S. Department of Energy.
  • Apply analytical methods, simulations, and industry standards to design safe, efficient, and cost-effective solutions.
