The Department of Electrical Engineering is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electronics Engineer Lab Manager to support and enhance undergraduate teaching laboratories and related research activities. This role is central to delivering high quality, hands-on educational experiences by ensuring laboratory spaces, equipment, and instructional materials are safe, reliable, and effective. Working closely with faculty, staff, and teaching assistants, the Electronics Engineer Lab Manager oversees the daily operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of multiple instructional laboratories while also supporting departmental research and special initiatives. This position operates primarily in laboratory and workshop settings and may require handling specialized equipment and tools. Adherence to safety protocols is essential.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent technical training in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field
  • 3+ years of hands on experience in electronics, laboratory operations, or a related technical environment
  • Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and repair skills
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management abilities
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience supporting academic or instructional laboratories
  • Familiarity with embedded systems, PCB design or fabrication, or RF systems
  • Experience with inventory management systems and lab operations
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety standards and regulatory compliance

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade laboratory equipment and experimental setups
  • Ensure laboratories are fully prepared and operational for each academic term
  • Support the design, development, and implementation of new laboratory experiments
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to students, faculty, and teaching assistants
  • Train and support teaching assistants to ensure effective instructional delivery
  • Manage laboratory kits, inventory, and procurement processes
  • Oversee laboratory safety compliance and coordinate safety inspections and audits
  • Administer departmental key control and access systems
  • Support departmental operations, research activities, and special programs as needed
