About The Position

The Electronics Engineer - Field Operations or Principal Electronics Engineer - Field Operations position at Northrop Grumman involves integrating and testing complex software and hardware systems within the Avionics Integration Organization. The role requires full-time on-site work at Beale AFB, CA, with a travel requirement of up to 25%. The selected candidate will be responsible for hardware/software installation, configuration, and testing, as well as providing expert support to on-site end-users.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline and 2 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of related engineering experience for Electronics Engineer level.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline for Principal Engineer level.
  • Demonstrated experience with Windows and Unix operating systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with VMware.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Security+ Certificate for administrators.
  • Active in-Scope, DoD Top Secret clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP/PAR).

Responsibilities

  • Perform datacenter hardware/software installation, configuration, and testing for both new systems and upgrades to existing complex IT systems.
  • Physically construct rack-based datacenter systems with a focus on safety, quality, and ease of repair.
  • Install system interconnect cabling for communications, audio, networking, and serial interfaces.
  • Interpret, markup/redline, and audit released engineering drawings.
  • Deploy and configure operating systems such as Windows, Linux, Solaris, and VMware ESXi.
  • Configure and markup system build guides/procedures for IT hardware such as switches, workstations, virtual machines, and Keyboard Video Mouse Audio (KVMA)/PCOIP devices.
  • Maintain system hardware/software configuration and troubleshoot issues as needed.
  • Execute both temporary and permanent changes to the system via established processes.
  • Provide expert software, hardware, and system support to on-site end-users.
  • Support the engineering team(s) with software defect resolution and enhancement efforts.
  • Perform integrated logistics support (ILS) and inventory tracking for inbound and outbound hardware.
  • Participate in offsite upgrades and system integration activities.
