About The Position

Systems Application & Technologies, Inc. SA-TECH has been supporting the US Navy's mission at Naval Base Ventura County, Point Point Mugu as a prime contractor since 2008. Our responsibilities encompass operating and performing operational-, intermediate-, and depot-level maintenance for aerial and seaborne assets in support of weapon systems test and evaluation and fleet training exercises. We manage all stages of aerial and seaborne target assets' operational progression from initial inspection and configuration through deployment, return and post-operation maintenance and repair. We provide management, scheduling and execution of aerial and seaborne target operations; operation and maintenance of target recovery vessels (Aerial Vehicle Recovery [AVRs]); asset maintenance and depot repair; depot engineering assistance; recovery of aerial and seaborne assets; inventory management; and management of Government-furnished facilities, materials, vehicles and equipment. SA-TECH personnel perform commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) to Remote Control conversion to meet PMS-325 production goals for the Seaborne Targets Externally Directed Team (STEDT). We also provide target control system operation and management, and set-up, test and operate assets for System for Naval Target Control (SNTC) and Portable Command and Control Unit (PCCU) support at local and deployed locations. We are currently seeking to hire a detail-oriented and highly skilled Electronics Assembly Technician (Electronics Technician, Maintenance III) to join our dynamic team in a part-time capacity (about 9 hours a week). In this role, you will play a critical part in the fabrication and assembly of high-performance electronic components and systems used in advanced air vehicles.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience, to preferably include aircraft and instrumentation experience.
  • Demonstrable thru-hole, SMT and interconnection skills.
  • Ability to use manual as well as wave soldering techniques.
  • For wiring, electronics, and instrumentation duties, IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification is preferred.
  • Possess a strong basic avionics/electronics background.
  • Must be knowledgeable in testing systems and components to ensure functionality in accordance with procedures defined in NAVAIR manuals using specified test equipment.
  • Work requirement includes using hand tools, power tools, and engine and electronics test equipment.
  • Must be able to read and interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
  • Computer / Networking I MS Office.
  • Ability to pass an Industrial I FAA Class 3 or comparable physical (such as a commercial driver license physical).
  • Current Driver's License required; must be able to be insured through company's vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required and you must be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to start date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.
  • All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and assemble wiring harnesses, printed circuit boards (PCBs), and coaxial cables in accordance with engineering specifications for integration into air vehicle platforms.
  • Operate a range of electronic assembly equipment including soldering stations, rework stations, microscopes, heat guns, crimping tools, and related tools with a high degree of accuracy and consistency.
  • Assemble complex harness configurations involving thru-hole, surface mount technology (SMT), and intricate interconnection schemes.
  • Perform manual assembly of printed circuit boards using SMT processes, ensuring optimal placement and alignment of components.
  • Assemble thru-hole PCBs using both manual and wave soldering techniques to ensure robust mechanical and electrical connections.
  • Interpret and follow engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics to fabricate and electrically verify harness assemblies to meet design and quality standards.
  • Perform functional checks and inspections of completed assemblies, identifying and resolving issues proactively.
