About The Position

The Electronic Technician III shall be responsible for installing, testing and troubleshooting security system sub-level devices (i.e. patch panels, junction boxes) on large or complex jobs and head end equipment on small or less complex jobs. This technician should be able to work independently without direct supervision. This position is contingent upon contract award

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Formal electronics training from: Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications, or four (4) year electronics apprentice program. Formal electronics training, to include: Installation Tasks, Soldering, Cable Dressing, Cable Tray, Conduit, and Making/Repairing Connectors.
  • Experience: Eight (8) years of practical experience, to include: Electronics Repair, Maintenance, Installation and Checkout. Two (2) years of experience, to include: supervision, and shop practices. Three (3) years of practical experience, to include: electronics repair and installation, and six (6) years of experience with the task specific project. Note: Experience may be concurrent.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Test Equipment (i.e. TDR, OTDR)
  • Hand Tools (complete list of required tools will be provided)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience installing and troubleshooting electronic security, life safety and telecommunications systems is preferred.
  • Active Secret Clearance preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support and direct other technicians during installation activities.
  • Perform field verification testing.
  • Read and adhere to blueprints and installation design plans for the installation of sub-level devices (i.e. patch panels, junction boxes) on large or complex jobs and head end equipment on small or less complex jobs.
  • Prepare and install cable pathways & spaces.
  • Identify appropriate cables from drawings and running cables/fiber per installation design plans.
  • Test continuity of conductor(s) or breaks in fiber.
  • Terminate basic connections such as butt splices, insulated connectors, terminal strips/blocks and BNC connectors.
  • Mount and terminate field devices (i.e. Readers, Door Contacts, REXs, Cameras).
  • Install and terminate sub-level devices (i.e. patch panels, junction boxes) on large or complex jobs and head end equipment on small or less complex jobs to include power and proper grounding.
  • Read and understand component level schematic diagrams for systems, equipment and devices.
  • Other duties as assigned
