Jabil is seeking an experienced PCB Electronics/Test Technician to work in our Auburn Hills, MI plant! We are needing someone for 3rd shift! How will you make an impact? The PCB Electronics/Test Technician will be self-directed and will be responsible for developing and maintaining test procedures, test hardware, and software for electronic circuit production.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma Required or GED is required.
  • At least 1 year of related work experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience troubleshooting Printed Circuit Boards (PCB's) down to the component level is required.
  • Experience soldering surface mount components.
  • Basic knowledge of electronics and how they function is required.
  • Experience and knowledge using Computers is required.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Associates in Electronics, Technical Certificate or similar and at least 1 year of work experience OR equivalent combination of education, work experience and technical expertise
  • Advanced computer skills, including basic networking
  • Strong analytical, interpretive, and problem resolution skills
  • Must obtain and maintain IPC and soldering certifications (certification training provided in-house)
  • Ability to: work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • work under tight deadlines with frequently changing priorities and interruptions
  • effectively present information and respond to questions from coworkers, managers and customers
  • define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Close vision, use of computer monitor.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the Test Engineer in the development and commission of test solutions executing the test qualification of the fixture and program as per the specific system qualification process.
  • Responsible for providing the deliverables to support the solution in production to both the Test Support Function and Manufacturing Operations.
  • Assists in the build and manufacture of testers, fixtures, and environmental tooling as required to meet customer expectations.
  • The Technician Engineer provides the interface to the Test Support function providing comprehensive documentation and training for all test solutions implemented.
  • Provides the interface to the Manufacturing function providing comprehensive documentation and coordinating training and education for all test operations implemented.
  • Through working with the Test Support function monitor and contribute to the improvement of Test Yields, Efficiency, Intermittencies, and Uptime providing accurate reporting and clear targets for improvement.
  • In conjunction with the Test Engineer strives to consistently upgrade the test process balancing cost, and coverage with the goal of providing an optimized and cost-efficient test process.
  • Works closely with manufacturing and test support to ensure prioritization of support activities.
  • They will be responsible for coordinating the timetable for test readiness based on the weekly production schedule through the appropriate Test Support staff.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Independently troubleshoots complex test equipment and product; provides training and assistance to other Technicians; collects and interprets test data.
  • Fabricates and builds test equipment.
  • Reads and interprets technical schematics and diagnostic guides to determine the correct functioning of circuit boards/components and for troubleshooting
  • Troubleshoots electrical issues down to a component level.
  • Use of a scope sometimes required.
  • Operates hand and power tools to fabricate using metal, wood, plastic, etc.; follows equipment designs or blueprints for fabrication
  • Troubleshoots complex problems on circuit boards and systems
  • Analyzes and repairs malfunctions in test systems, including test equipment
  • Repairs, upgrades and installs test software at workstation computers
  • Utilizes electronic components (e.g. resistors, transistors, etc.) and testing equipment (e.g. oscilloscopes, counters)
  • Trains and assists ET I’s and Test Engineering Operators; monitors and provides feedback to leadership on performance of ET I’s and Test Engineering Operators
  • Communicates to all team members on the status of test systems and test processes related to production; escalates downtime to appropriate personnel
  • Ensures an adequate supply of testing equipment and parts are available in inventory
  • Supports Lean and Six Sigma Initiatives
  • Works safely and complies with Environmental Health and Safety standards and work practices along with all other work rules.
