About The Position

This position, under direct supervision, performs a variety of work relating to the maintenance and calibration of electronic components and digital equipment with frequent opportunities to plan and make decisions relative to details of assigned duties.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year experience in the repair and maintenance of sophisticated electronic apparatus preferred.
  • Valid Texas driver's license.
  • Class I Wastewater Collection System Operator license (for Electronic Techs working in the Collection system), Class D wastewater (for Electronic Techs working in the plant) or D water (at the water plant) or the ability to obtain one within the first year of employment.
  • Must possess a basic understanding of A.C. and D.C. analog and digital circuitry and an analytical mind toward instrumentation technology.
  • Must have mechanical and some construction skills.
  • Ability to recognize the relationship between the electronics and the electrical systems used.
  • Ability to calculate mathematical formulas.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in calibration of various instrumentation, such as flow measurement instrumentation, temperature sensors and vibration sensors.
  • Assists in repair of electronics in the collection system with the ability to use technical manuals.
  • Monitors and maintains records of work performed as required.
  • Maintains repair shop test equipment and service truck cleanliness and appearance.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on electronic equipment. Maintains and calibrates safety equipment under direct supervision.
  • Performs all duties while observing safety guidelines and security measures as established by the Authority. Maintains good communication with supervisors and co-workers.
  • May be responsible for responding to various emergency situations, including after-hours, as directed by supervisor.
  • Employees assigned to this position are classified as essential personnel. Essential personnel are required to report to work when scheduled during departmental and/or emergency situations including, but not limited to, extended periods of inclement weather when travel may be difficult. This position is essential because, in the absence of sufficient personnel, the plant cannot operate safely.
