About The Position

The Electronic Systems V&V Engineer at Caterpillar, Inc. plays a crucial role in supporting lab-based testing for Off-Highway Truck and Large Mining Truck applications. This position involves working with an engineering team to verify and validate embedded software, ensuring high-quality software for internal and external customers. The engineer will engage in system integration testing and develop a deep understanding of the Electrical and Electronic Systems in Caterpillar's products.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science from an accredited institution.
• Knowledge of product testing approaches, techniques, and tools for L6 machine level software integration.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with teams and present test results.
• Technical knowledge in electronics engineering, including designing wiring harnesses and testing electronic circuits.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with dSPACE hardware, ControlDesk, and Automation Desk for operating dSPACE benches.
• Familiarity with Matlab/Simulink for IO simulation and plant modeling.
• Good working knowledge of CAN, J1939, Ethernet, TCP/IP, and other data link protocols.

Responsibilities

• Define testing priorities and determine test coverage in collaboration with machine system coordinators and electronic system design engineers.
• Develop and implement test plans, perform regression testing, and document test results for embedded software integration testing.
• Create automated test scripts to enhance testing efficiency.
• Maintain and troubleshoot Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) test benches.
• Develop and modify IO and system plant models.
