Employees work where needed, at a city site and/or in the community several days a week. In this position you can expect to work on site and other locations, five days a week, officed at Ellie Caulkins Opera House Basement, 908 14th Street, Denver, CO 80204. Regular hours are 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Monday – Friday. There will be some evening and weekend work in this position, with shift-differential in pay. Denver Arts and Venues ( DAV ) is the City and County of Denver agency responsible for operating some of the region’s most renowned facilities, including Red Rocks Amphitheatre, the Denver Performing Arts Complex, the Colorado Convention Center, the Denver Coliseum, McNichols Civic Center Building, and the Theatre at Loretto Heights. DAV reinvests the revenue it generates into venue operation and maintenance, grants for artists and arts organizations, free and low-cost cultural events, art in public spaces, and arts education. DAV also oversees the development and implementation of DENVER CREATES (Denver’s Cultural Plan) and the Denver Public Art Program. New in 2026, DAV will also provide special event permitting services as part of the consolidation of the former Office of Special Events into DAV. This restructuring will provide more efficiencies and alleviate budget pressures on the General Fund. Every good time at one of DAV’s venues enriches Denver through arts and culture and helps Denver’s cultural community thrive — for good! The Denver Performing Arts Complex ( Arts Complex ) is a world-renowned performing arts campus covering 12 acres in downtown Denver. The Arts Complex includes the Ellie Caulkins Opera House, Boettcher Concert Hall, Temple Hoyne Buell Theatre, Helen Bonfils Theatre Complex, Garner Galleria Theatre, Champa Arts building (1245 Champa), Sculpture Park, and an Arts Complex parking garage with ground-floor retail uses that include two restaurants, a jazz club, a small gallery and offices. Services provided by the Arts Complex division include booking, patron/client services, event oversight, cultural partner programming, security and parking management, facilities maintenance, food and beverage contract management, and oversight for retail spaces in the parking garage. The Arts and Venues Facilities team is a crew of 11 that includes a Building Engineer, skilled tradesmen, and utility workers. They are responsible for the second largest performing arts complex in the nation! We are hiring for a full-time, unlimited Electronic Systems Technician III.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
  • Three (3) years of building and access control experience, configuring and 5 years maintaining electronic communication systems and equipment and making component level repairs and system modifications.
  • Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
  • This job requires driving.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding and knowledge of operation and function of the Internet and components. IE hotspots WAPS
  • CJIS (Compliant Technical Support) certified, or ability to obtain certification in the first six months
  • Understanding of Stage Pit Elevator operations
  • A/V experience with microphones sound and projectors for presentations
  • Understanding of fire panel, alarms, and access control experience
  • Experience with telecommunication, networking, and telephony
  • Customer service skills and follow up on project and repairs.
  • Experience working with CCD Tech Services
  • Ability to work independently, solutions-based thought processor, and clearly communicate thoroughly with internal and external stakeholders
  • Adaptable to moving deadlines, hard deadlines, changes, and can be flexible with schedule as needed

Responsibilities

  • Repair, monitor, and maintain electronic systems, network, and equipment such as Closed Circuit TV (CCTV), Video, Emergency Communications (ECS), Audio Control, Public Access (PATV), Fire Alarm Monitoring, Telecommunication, Broadband and Access Control systems consisting of security device controllers, fingerprint and facial authentication, biometric readers and card readers.
  • Troubleshoot, test, diagnose, calibrate, and perform bench and field repairs to the component level.
  • Design, configure and fabricate circuits and related equipment as needed to utilize existing equipment, modify applications, or resolve unusual problems.
  • Install and maintain power supplies, video cameras, alarm and signaling equipment, encoders and decoders, computer data systems, and other related communication systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance for electronic control and communication equipment to minimize repair problems and to meet manufacturers’ specifications.
  • Review service contracts , evaluates, and recommend equipment purchasing as assigned.
  • Provide training and maintenance instructions to operators or installers of specialized systems and equipment.
  • Operate a variety of computer systems designed to monitor and/or operate specific electronic and electrical systems.
  • Work with vendors on system installation and partner with user agencies to determine future requirements.
  • Work with the City and County of Denver mainframe, working with Tech Services regulations and process.
  • Provide service for clients utilizing Arts Complex spaces.
  • Research and prepare technical reports.
  • Maintain records on required and completed repair work.
  • Respond to service calls regarding the access control or communication systems in person or remotely or refer call to the appropriate IT resource.
  • Responds to after-hours calls or emergency calls outside of normal scheduled or business hours.
