About the position

The Electronic Systems Design Engineer I at Wright State University is responsible for providing systems integration solutions for audio, video, and conferencing systems across various applications. This role serves as a tier-3 escalation point for incidents in academic and non-academic spaces, offering equipment recommendations and managing project installations. The position also involves assisting the Event Services AV team as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the installations, maintenance, and repair of AV systems.
  • Work with Instructional Technology Support and Classroom Operation teams to develop new technologies for faculty.
  • Analyze system failures and provide timely solutions.
  • Provide systems training and support to Client Services personnel and end users.
  • Assist in reviewing blueprints and building plans for project solutions.
  • Provide continuous engineering support throughout project implementation.
  • Assist with event support inside the Student Union and campus as needed.
  • Plan, schedule, and assist with daily projects in collaboration with Event Services Coordinator.
  • Define functional requirements for control systems and program networked control systems.
  • Maintain software and firmware for all networked systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Engineering, or related field; or Associate's degree with 2 years of related experience; or high school diploma with 4 years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of Extron technology and associated classroom audio/video equipment with Extron AV Associate Certification.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and related documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and as a productive team member.
  • Demonstrated skills in customer service and multitasking.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies in the audio/video field.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of IT service management best practices.
