About The Position

This position performs technical duties in the repair and maintenance of electrical systems and digital machine controls.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the technical maintenance and repair of a variety of electronic and digital control systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical standards and codes.
  • Knowledge of manufacturers' recommended safety procedures, OSHA regulations, and city safety procedures.
  • Knowledge of basic computer architecture.
  • Knowledge of programmable logic functions.
  • Knowledge of department and city policies and procedures, and federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
  • Skill in reading and interpreting blueprints and diagrams.
  • Skill in the operation of SCADA and CMMS software.
  • Skill in troubleshooting and resolving a variety of technical issues.
  • Skill in the use of job-related tools and equipment.
  • Skill in planning, organization, and decision making.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots, repairs, replaces and modifies electronic system hardware and software; troubleshoots LAN connectivity issues.
  • Performs scheduled maintenance on electronic systems.
  • Maintains backup copies of all equipment PLC, HMI and radio modem device programs.
  • Maintains an electronic library of equipment manuals.
  • Coordinates with contractors for the installation of electronic equipment.
  • Researches and locates replacement parts.
  • Maintains records of work performed.
  • Purchases and maintains electronic system tools, test equipment and consumable supplies.
  • Reviews proposed new electronic systems for suitability.
  • Responds to after-hours emergencies.
  • Performs related duties.
