About The Position

VTG is seeking an Electronic Security Systems (ESS) Lead Electronic Technician in San Diego, CA. The position involves general technical knowledge to build, test, troubleshoot, repair and modify developmental and electrical or electronic components, parts, equipment, and systems. Specific duties include drawing sketches to clarify design details, reviewing system logs for problem indications, conducting physical inspections of access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection devices, and testing each device to verify correct operations. The technician will also recommend changes in circuitry or installation specifications, set up standard test apparatus, analyze test data, and check the functioning of newly installed equipment under actual operating conditions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • 3 years of experience managing a team of technicians.
  • 3 years of maintenance experience with physical security access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection system hardware.
  • 3 years of maintenance experience with Access Control System (ACS), Intrusion Detection System (IDS), and Closed Circuit Television (CCTV).
  • Certifications in any of the above are a plus.
  • Secret Clearance.
  • Valid passport for international travel with at least six months before expiration.

Responsibilities

  • Draw sketches to clarify design details and functional criteria of electronic units.
  • Review system logs and error logs for problem indications.
  • Conduct physical inspections of access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection devices.
  • Test each access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection device installed.
  • Test backup batteries in each ACS/IDS sub-system enclosure.
  • Recommend changes in circuitry or installation specifications.
  • Set up standard test apparatus and circuitry for functional, operational, environmental, and life tests.
  • Analyze and interpret test data.
  • Adjust, calibrate, align, and modify circuitry and components.
  • Utilize technical reports, charts, graphs, and schematics for system's operating characteristics.
  • Check functioning of newly installed equipment with supervisor.
