About the position

The Learning Commons of Jefferson Community and Technical College has an opening for an Electronic Resources Librarian. This staff librarian position is responsible for overseeing, acquiring, managing, and evaluating the electronic resources of the JCTC libraries. The role involves working with others throughout the library and Kentucky Community and Technological College System to manage issues related to electronic resource access, collaborating with partners internally and externally to ensure ongoing access to licensed resources, and managing the Learning Commons website and LibGuides. Additionally, the librarian will work with the Director of Library Services to manage the Central Service Desk and employees in the Smith Library Building.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing, acquiring, managing, and evaluating the electronic resources of the JCTC libraries.
  • Working with others throughout the library and Kentucky Community and Technological College System to manage issues related to electronic resource access.
  • Collaborating with partners internally and externally to ensure ongoing access to licensed resources.
  • Managing the Learning Commons website and LibGuides.
  • Working with the Director of Library Services to manage the Central Service Desk and employees in the Smith Library Building.
  • Participating in general library services: instruction, reference, desk coverage.
  • Participating in collection development and other Learning Commons activities.
  • Participating in the Learning Commons Instruction Team by creating instructional tools (e.g., LibGuides, videos, handouts) through traditional and emerging formats.
  • Possible occasional travel to extended campuses.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Library/Information Science from an American Library Association accredited program.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2-3 years professional library experience.
  • Experience using Alma (Ex-Libris) integrated library system.
  • Experience working with vendors on pricing and licensing issues.
  • Experience working with a variety of colleagues: student workers, full-time staff and faculty, and part-time staff and faculty.
  • Experience with Springshare, Canva, and other content creation applications.
  • Experience with Blackboard or other learning management systems.
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, and Javascript.
