The Electronic Funds Transfer Specialist is responsible for the daily processing and settlement of member financial transactions originated through electronic channels. This includes; Automated Clearing House (ACH) transactions, Check Presentments, Wire Transfers, Shared Banking Transactions, and ATM Settlements. This position requires prior experience with electronic settlements, knowledge of ACH and FRB rules and regulation, and the ability to accurately process, post, and reconcile a large volume of electronic transaction within time sensitive deadlines. The Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) certification is highly desired. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Automated Clearing House (ACH) Settlement: Download, process, and post several ACH files daily. Ensure all transactions are accurately posted to member accounts or returned within time sensitive deadlines. Processing ACH files requires; editing the file to reduce exceptions, then identifying, researching, and correcting exceptions before posting or returning the transaction. Typical exceptions include wrong account numbers, OFAC exceptions, fraud, insufficient funds, and continuing transactions to closed or deceased accounts. Once exceptions have been cleared, transactions are posted to member accounts. Finally settlement amounts must be reconciled to correspondent bank accounts and general ledger. Check Presentments: Review and correct exceptions in daily check presentment file (checks drawn against member accounts) before debiting member accounts. Most exceptions require simply correcting incorrect account numbers. File must be corrected and posted within time sensitive deadlines. ATM Settlements: Reconcile and balance daily ATM settlements. Ensure cash withdrawals and deposits match posting to member accounts. Research and correct differences. Initiate and follow up member disputes through ATM networks. Shared Branching Transactions: Credit union members may deposit, withdraw, or make loan payments at other credit unions through a shared network. Daily settlement amounts through this shared network must be reconciled and corrected against member transaction posting. Wire Transfer: Review and release wire transfers, then posting wire transfers to member or general ledger account. Transaction / Reputation Risk: Identify and correct erroneous financial transactions before they negatively affect the member, result in a financial loss, or affect the reputation of the credit union. General Ledger Accounting: Post electronic settlement to general ledger accounts, assist accounting staff to reconcile differences, and help close general ledger accounts at month end. Correspondent Relationships: Work directly with other financial institutions and vendors to clear transactions and resolve payment issues. Assist Other Departments in support of their daily operations. Perform Other Duties as assigned.
