What You Will Do: The Electronic Equipment Calibration Technician provides calibration and repair capability in support of all electronic test measurement and diagnostic equipment that are covered under the currently approved TAA. Provides training to laboratory and site personnel on new equipment, as required. Calibrates and/or repairs all electronic test measurement and diagnostic equipment supported by the calibration laboratory that are covered under the currently approved TAA. Helps to develop new procedures and methods of performing calibration on new equipment utilizing the numerous standards available in the calibration facility. Performs precision calibration of state of the art electronic equipment as required. Develops test jigs, fixtures and special test setups for calibration of newly acquired or special purpose equipment when required. Provides on-the-job training (OJT) for technicians in electronic theory, the use of electronic standards and their application to equipment calibration. Required to make site visits for training, evaluation and technical assistance as needed. Assists the section officer in enforcing safety policies, procedures, and standards. Performs other related duties as required or directed by the section officer.

Requirements

  • Must have a strong background in digital electronics and RF / Microwave
  • Must have a minimum of 4 years experience in calibration of electronic equipment
  • Must have a deep understanding of the principles and concepts related to measurement, calibration, and instrumentation
  • Must be meticulous in their work, as minor discrepancies in measurements can have significant consequences, and carefully follow established procedures, document their work, and ensure that all measurements are accurate and reliable
  • Must be proficient in using computers and various software applications related to their work
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s Degree with 4 years of related experience, or Associates Degree with 8 years’ experience or HS Diploma/GED with 12 years of related experience.

  • Familiar with various types of measuring equipment and understand their operation, maintenance, and calibration requirements
  • A strong foundation in mathematics, as they must perform calculations and interpret numerical data to ensure the accuracy of measurements and calibrations
