Actalent is currently seeking a qualified Electronic Engineering Technician for a position in Vancouver, WA. This Electronic Engineering Technician 2 position provides engineering, design, and field support in Bonneville Power Administration (BPA)'s System Engineering (TEN) Project Engineering, Telecom (TENP) group. This includes fiber optics, analog/mobile radio, digital radio, power line carrier, operational telephone, microwave towers and antennas, emergency AC/DC power and UPS systems, communications buildings, multiplex equipment, and monitoring systems including alarm system, Fault Locating Acquisition Reporter (FLAR), microwave monitor, wide area networks used for operational data and network management. This position will provide engineering technician expertise, assisting project managers and other engineering personnel in implementing projects, supporting field maintenance crews, and other related engineering activities.

  • Assist in maintaining databases related to electrical and electronic drawings and documents.
  • Prepare detailed design, material, or procurement specifications for equipment.
  • Contribute to engineering designs and the development of engineering requirements for facility installations and modifications.
  • Draft telecommunications standard guides and templates for assigned projects.
  • Participate in site visits to support project scoping and design, verifying equipment configurations and documenting as-built records.
  • Respond to engineering requests for information verification, such as waveguide distances and antenna locations.
  • Review CAD and manually drafted drawings for accuracy and completeness, providing feedback and corrections.
  • Research and document the existing inventory of telecommunication and related equipment.
  • Provide engineering technician expertise to support design and field personnel in project documentation.
  • Organize and analyze drawings, discussing project complexity and time estimates with technical and supervisory personnel.
  • Draft designs from engineers' notes and sketches utilizing electronic files and central records.
  • Develop and revise telecommunications drawing templates and standards.
  • Perform administrative duties, maintaining engineering records, updating CAD databases, and managing drawing submissions.
  • Manage submissions of As-Built drawings, assist in mentoring team members, and prepare documentation for digital signature and distribution.
  • Update photographic records of all physical equipment and maintain filing systems in compliance with standards.
  • A bachelor's or associate's degree in electronic engineering or a closely related field is preferred
  • 5 years of work experience is required with an applicable bachelor's degree.
  • 7 years of work experience is required with an applicable associate's degree
  • 9 years of work experience is required without a degree or applicable degree.
  • Experience should include directly related work experience in a technical/engineering environment and should demonstrate increasing knowledge and responsibility.
  • Proficiency in use of CAD software.
  • Experience in a project team environment.
  • Proficiency with MicroStation CAD software.
