About The Position

This is highly skilled electronics and electrician work in wiring, testing, installation, calibration and repair of electrical equipment, instruments, programmable logic controllers, data transmission and acquisition systems, computers, telemetry, electrical co-generation equipment and audio/video equipment.

Requirements

  • Must meet one of the following education requirements: Graduation from high school (or G.E.D.) AND journeyman electrician with a certificate in electronics or related field; OR Graduation from high school (or G.E.D.) AND completion of a four year certificate program in electronics or an electronic related field; OR Associate degree in Electronics. Degree must be from a college or university that is accredited by the U.S. Department of Education through the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools Higher Learning Commission or equivalent region.
  • Must have 5 years of experience in the maintenance and repair of electrical and electronic equipment.
  • Additionally, must have experience in the maintenance and repair of computer hosted data acquisition systems including PLC and/or RTU functions.
  • ALL of the above experience must have been obtained within the past 10 years.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license at time of appointment and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.
  • Must not be colorblind.
  • Must be a full-time permanent or part-time permanent employee in pay grade 125 (Wage) or below, pay grade 29 (Clerical) or below, or equivalent, and been employed for 6 consecutive months by the City of Dayton in a classified Civil Service position.
  • Final appointment is contingent upon the applicant passing a job-related medical examination and providing documentary evidence of Employment Authorization and Identity.
  • A background investigation is required prior to employment. All candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position, including current city employees seeking transfer, promotion, demotion, etc. into a classified position.
  • Final appointment is contingent upon the applicant passing a drug screen.
  • Applicants offered employment with the City will be required to pass a nicotine screening.
  • Newly hired employees must remain tobacco and nicotine free as a condition of continued employment.
