About the position
The Electronic Design Automation Engineer will join Broadcom's Central Engineering Library development group, focusing on the development and maintenance of tools and methodologies for in-house compiler systems. This role involves collaborating with circuit designers and software engineers to enhance EDA/CAD model development processes, ensuring efficient software delivery and continuous process improvements through automation.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and deploy solutions using Python, Perl, MySQL, HTML, and various Open Source Software tools.
- Improve existing compiler software systems and work on infrastructure for peak efficiency using distributed Linux compute systems.
- Engage in collaborative software development on both team and individual projects.
- Drive requirements, development, maintenance, and support for automation systems across engineering business units.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience, Master's degree with 3 years of experience, or a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Minimum of 3 years experience developing software on Linux platforms.
- Experience in software tools/process automation, preferably in the semiconductor industry.
- Proficient in Python, Perl, MySQL, Shell, and TCL.
- Excellent knowledge of Linux commands, file systems, and job execution.
- Familiarity with ASIC design flow and EE principles for circuit design and testing.
Nice-to-haves
- Familiarity with version control tools such as SVN, Synchronicity/DSM, and GIT.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and methodical approach to work.
