About The Position

The Electronic Access Locksmith at the University of Central Missouri is responsible for maintaining the physical security of the campus through the installation and repair of locking hardware and electronic access devices. This role involves developing and implementing keying systems and electronic access systems to enhance campus security, collaborating with Facilities, Planning and Operations, and ensuring compliance with university hardware standards during projects and renovations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years locksmithing experience.
  • One year locksmithing experience plus locksmith certification may substitute for the above requirement.
  • Electronic Access experience required.
  • One year of computer experience preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Electronic Access Training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and program electronic access devices.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain electronic key control system.
  • Cut keys by code, duplication, or fabrication method.
  • Issue keys to customers and provide training to new University employees.
  • Maintain an inventory of key blanks, locksets, and other materials of the trade.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain record system for job order requests.
  • Receive and complete lock re-core requests and re-key locks.
  • Install and repair mechanical locks and panic devices.
  • Drill and prepare doors and frames for lock installation.
  • Maintain and program electronic access points, including scheduling opening and closing times of buildings.
  • Attend training to stay updated on the latest trends and equipment in locksmithing.
  • Support office manager by assisting customers with locking problems and inquiries regarding key policy and procedure.
