Performs Evoked Potentials procedures VEP, SSEP, and BAER with digital equipment. Assesses physiological data in a timely manner that demonstrates accurate analysis of appropriate protocols for the Neurologist interpretation. Requirements

  • Successful completion of an accredited Electroencephalogram and/or Evoked Potential program.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Electroencephalogram and/or Evoked Potential procedures.
  • Registered Electroencephalogram Technician and/or/Evoked Potential Technician.
  • Registered or board-eligible Electroencephalogram (EEG) Technician preferred.
  • Evoked Potential (EP) Technician preferred.
  • BLS required at hire, or obtain within 3 months of hire; recertified every 2 years.
  • To operate various technical instrumentation.
  • To read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, tracing and recording so as to distinguish abnormalities, detect artifacts and validate the procedure.
  • To work well with mathematical concepts of normal range and standard deviations as applies to procedure.
  • To speak effectively in order to communicate with patient and family members.
  • Ability to trouble -shoot regarding instrumentation and procedure.
  • Ability to take verbal instruction from physicians, nurses, co-workers regarding technical area of responsibility.
  • Ability to work with computer applications.

Responsibilities

  • Performs quality Electroencephalograms, video-monitoring EEG, ambulatory EEG, portable laptop EEG with appropriate technical skills.
  • Performs quality Evoked Potentials procedures with appropriate technical skills.
  • Utilization of the current Electroencephalogram and Evoked Potential equipment to provide high-quality diagnostic results.
  • Assesses physiological data in a timely manner that demonstrates accurate analysis of appropriate protocols for the Neurologist interpretation.
  • Appropriate documentation of patient records for reporting and record keeping.
  • Obtain and correlate clinical histories and other diagnostic data pertinent to individual age and patient needs.
  • Consults with Senior Neurodiagnostic Technician or Neurologist on special procedures.
  • Follows established infection control policies to keep equipment clean and in good operating condition.
  • Equipment troubleshooting, maintaining supplies in rooms and cleaning the equipment.
  • Maintains knowledge of Neurodiagnostic procedures and study techniques.
  • Provides for appropriate patient care, safety, and education, demonstrating Glens Falls Hospital values and behavioral standards.
  • Performs other related operational duties as needed office/clerical functions.
  • Collaborates and participates in department meetings, educational and CI programs.
