About The Position

The Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist position at Franciscan Health Indianapolis involves providing safe procedural environments, documenting and reporting critical test results, and conducting EEG and other neurodiagnostic testing. The role requires customization of recording procedures based on patient history and observed EEG waveforms, as well as the differentiation of artifacts from cerebral or peripheral nerve responses. The technologist is responsible for disinfecting testing rooms and equipment, ensuring proper documentation of procedures, and identifying opportunities for performance improvement. Participation in on-call rotation for off-shift coverage, including weekends and holidays, is also required.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED
• 1 year healthcare experience
• Registered Electroencephalogram Technologist (R. EEG T) within 2 years of hire
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification

• 1 year of Neuro diagnostics (EEG / sleep) experience

Responsibilities

• Provides a safe procedural environment by recognizing and responding to life-threatening situations.
• Recognizes, documents, and reports critical test results to the designated interpreting physician.
• Documents pertinent patient medical history, including current medications and circumstances surrounding reported symptoms.
• Customizes the recording procedure appropriately as per referral evaluation, patient history, or observed EEG waveforms.
• Differentiates artifacts from cerebral or peripheral nerve responses and troubleshoots possible causes, documenting steps taken to alleviate such artifacts.
• Disinfects testing room, equipment, and supplies in accordance with departmental/facility infection control policies.
• Ensures procedures are appropriately logged, charged, and distributed to the interpreting physician.
• Identifies and monitors opportunities for performance improvement of services.
• Determines any contraindications to testing or monitoring protocols based on patient history or physician orders.
• Conducts EEG and other neurodiagnostic testing appropriate to the patient's age and according to departmental policies and procedures.
• Participates in on-call rotation to provide off-shift coverage, including weekends and holidays, as required.
