About The Position

As an Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist at Franciscan Health, you will play a crucial role in providing safe and effective neurodiagnostic testing. You will be responsible for ensuring a safe procedural environment, documenting and reporting critical test results, and customizing recording procedures based on patient history and observed EEG waveforms. Your role will also involve differentiating artifacts from cerebral or peripheral nerve responses, disinfecting testing rooms and equipment, and ensuring that all procedures are logged and charged appropriately. Additionally, you will participate in an on-call rotation to provide coverage during off-shift hours, including weekends and holidays.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1 year healthcare experience
  • Registered Electroencephalogram Technologist (R. EEG T) within 2 years of hire
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

Responsibilities

  • Provides a safe procedural environment by recognizing and responding to life-threatening situations.
  • Recognizes, documents and reports critical test results to the designated interpreting physician.
  • Documents pertinent patient medical history, including current medications and circumstances surrounding reported symptoms.
  • Customizes the recording procedure appropriately as per referral evaluation, patient history or observed EEG waveforms.
  • Differentiates artifacts from cerebral or peripheral nerve responses and troubleshoots possible causes, documenting steps taken to alleviate such artifacts.
  • Disinfects testing room, equipment, and supplies in accordance with departmental/facility infection control policies.
  • Ensures procedures are appropriately logged, charged and distributed to the interpreting physician.
  • Identifies and monitors opportunities for performance improvement of services.
  • Determines any contraindications to testing or monitoring protocols based on patient history or physician orders.
  • Conducts EEG, and other neurodiagnostic testing, appropriate to the patient's age and according to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Participates in on-call rotation to provide off shift coverage, including weekends and holidays, as required.
