About The Position

The Electron Microscopy Core Facility at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is a fee-for-service core that provides routine biological transmission electron microscopy services to a wide range of health-related disciplines, from basic research to translational medicine. The core facility technician will assist the core director with sample preparation and instrument operation. Responsibilities include reagent preparation; biological sample processing and plastic embedding; thick and thin sectioning; negative staining; operation of a 120 kV transmission electron microscope; maintaining detailed records of all processed specimens; and managing online scheduling, project tracking, and billing through the iLab system. Over the past few years, the EM Core has seen a growing demand for electron microscopy services, particularly for advanced and emerging EM technologies. The incoming staff member will be an integral part of the core, working closely with the core director to identify new methodologies and instrumentation needed by CU Anschutz investigators, and helping ensure that the core continues to deliver essential services efficiently and effectively. Being part of the CU Anschutz Electron Microscopy Core Facility is especially meaningful, as it serves as a central hub supporting a wide range of research projects across all schools and departments on campus. Core staff play a vital role by providing essential services that foster innovation and drive scientific progress. Their work helps advance the campus’s research goals and extend its overall impact. As CU Anschutz continues to grow and the investigator community expands, the diversity of projects supported by the EM Core grows as well, along with the demand for advanced methodologies. Together, these factors make the EM Core an outstanding environment for learning, professional development, and making meaningful contributions to research. The University of Colorado offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, life insurance, retirement plans, tuition benefits, ECO pass, paid time off – vacation, sick, holidays and more.
