About The Position

We’re searching for an Electromechanical Engineering Technician . In this role, you will Work as a R&D Technician building Aurora’s self-driving technology - this Includes vehicle build, sub-assembly, PCBA solder/rework, and harness build/assembly. Candidates must possess excellent documentation practices. Work closely with Hardware Engineering and associated teams. Follow safety standards and meet internal deadlines. Work with limited oversight. Seek continuing education and development opportunities.

Requirements

  • Operate in a high paced R&D, Rapid Prototyping environment
  • Minimum 10 years of direct experience in automotive, trucking, or prototyping spaces
  • Minimum 5 years of direct experience in harness fabrication using 1:1 form boards and various tooling in R&D and prototype spaces
  • Strong electrical skills, ability to read wiring schematics and layouts, redline drawings, and communicate with EDS design engineers
  • Strong understanding of electrical tools and equipment; crimpers, dies, multimeter, presses, connectors, contacts, wire gauges/types, soldering, microscope, etc.
  • Exceptional craftsmanship with the ability to pin out and quality test harnesses
  • Deep knowledge of automotive and trucking systems, tooling, and mechanical assemblies
  • Strong mechanical skills, ability to read schematics and layouts, and assemble mechanical systems.
  • Experience with Instrumentation (i.e. thermal test set ups, fluid dynamics, air pressure, load cells, etc.)
  • Must possess excellent communication skills and self awareness
  • Ability to problem-solve, diagnose, analyze and isolate problems rationally
  • Proficiency with Windows and Google productivity Suite - specifically Sheets
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment
  • Approach work with a proactive, capable, and willingness attitude to solve problems and support peers
  • Ability to multitask under pressure in an unstructured environment
  • Proficiency with Windows, Mac, or Linux
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, ERP, PLM, CAD, and various other software tools
  • Able to read and comprehend engineered drawings

Nice To Haves

  • IPC training and certification in the following: IPC J-STD-001, IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, IPC-7711/7721
  • Certification and training in GD&T
  • Familiar with CAD software, SolidWorks and/or Catia preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair equipment as necessary, implement upgrades.
  • Design parts/fixtures to aid in fabrication
  • Document fixtures, designs, processes created in the machine shop to archive for later use.
