About Our Internship Program: Throughout your internship, you will have regular events, weekly lunch and learn sessions, and receive customized training from our business units. This is a unique opportunity to gain valuable insights into supporting the needs of Stanley Black & Decker both in the US and abroad. The interns will gain first-hand exposure to Stanley Black & Decker and have the opportunity to build a cross-functional professional network. Interns are expected to adapt to change and demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, creativity, and confidence. Interns must be team-oriented and collaborative. During your internship, you will have the opportunity to support the electromechanical (EM) systems team with key activities including: You will have exposure to several areas of the EM systems team at Stanley Black & Decker. You will work on a wide variety of tasks and projects with a cross-functional team of professionals, including electrical/electronic, software/hardware engineers on the core team. Additionally, there is a lot of cross collaboration with tool team engineers, reliability engineers, CAE and specialty testing engineers, and marketing personnel.   • Use computer aided design (CAD) software to explore design options and create unique solutions for electronic components in NEW cordless tools.
  • Perform statistical analysis from real data to support design decisions.
  • Coordinate with remote teams and suppliers for prototype builds, testing, and feedback regarding electronic systems components.
  • Build and refine prototypes using 3D printers, hand tools, and soldering guns.
  • Present your analyses and design work to the team.
  • Test prototype designs using lab equipment such as load cells, high speed cameras, oscilloscopes, or automated testing rigs.
  • Troubleshoot electromechanical systems using digital multimeters (DMM), oscilloscopes, and software.
  • Measure components using optical profilometers, calipers, digital microscopes, etc.
  • Work with a team of fellow interns and an engineering mentor on a unique project to drive innovation at Stanley Black & Decker.
  • Be a rising junior or senior with a target graduation date of 2027 or 2028
  • Actively pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or electro-mechanical engineering.
  • Maintains strong academic credentials.
  • Exemplifies CAD software, statistical analysis, basic knowledge of undergraduate mechanical engineering principles such as strength of materials, material properties, machine design, heat transfer, electromagnetism, and basic electrical engineering principles such as Ohm's law and RC circuits.
  • Successfully manages strong academics alongside extracurricular activities.
