About The Position

Support design of Electrical/Electronic (E/E) commodities/subsystems with respect to Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC). The engineer will be responsible for review, assessment and supplier feedback with respect to the commodity circuit design in addition to printed circuit board (PCB) layout. The engineer would also be responsible for working with Ford suppliers to develop EMC test plans and monitor execution of EMC validation testing. The engineer will work closely with the Ford electronics product development teams, as well as with EMC vehicle application teams to assure robust design.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 2+ years of relevant EMC experience in E/E commodity design and validation, or MSEE with focus on RF systems and electromagnetics.
  • 2+ Years of demonstrated experience working with electrical test equipment including spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers and signal generators.
  • Knowledge of automotive EMC test procedures such as conducted/radiated emissions and immunity, bulk current injection, electrostatic discharge, transient immunity, etc.
  • A self-starter, motivated and able to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a goal oriented, team player attitude and the ability to work independently to plan and finish tasks on time.

Nice To Haves

  • MSEE with focus on RF systems and electromagnetics in addition to 3+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills leveraging applied electromagnetic theoretical concepts.
  • NARTE Certified EMC Engineer.
  • Familiarity with automotive EMC standards, such as Ford's FMC 1278, ISO 7637-4, CISPR 25, CISPR 12, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Provide EMC technical support to programs and product design teams.
  • Oversee EMC lab testing at the product level.
  • Verify results and then sign off for compliance.
  • Lead resolution of end product level issues detected during tests.
  • Develop commodity-level specific EMC requirements.
  • Review and approve component EMC test plans.
  • Develop vehicle level EMC test plans to validate program content.
  • Review component test data and provide risk assessments.
  • Participate in technical reviews for all commodities as a member of the technical review board.
  • Conduct EMC Design Reviews of components and associated vehicle wiring/packaging.
  • Leverage analytical methods, CAE numerical tools and empirical testing to assess robustness.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to review upfront design proposals and system tradeoffs to ensure EMC requirements are met.
  • Support vehicle engineers to resolve issues related to components.
