About The Position

Are you excited about the intersection of machine learning and renewable energy? At Nel Hydrogen, you will work hands‑on with operational data from cutting‑edge electrolyzer technology and contribute to solutions that support a more sustainable energy future. We are now looking for a Summer Intern to join our Technology Department and support the development of predictive models for electrolyzer performance. This is a paid internship, with a flexible start and date around late May/early June to mid/late August. About the Role As a Summer Intern, you will build on previous work to fit machine learning models to electrolyzer data. You will use tools such as Python, and/or MATLAB to train models and uncover new insights from operational data. Your work will support the development of predictive models to forecast long-term electrolyzer performance based on operational data that can come anywhere from small benchtop test cells to large industrial installations.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in Data Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field
  • Experience with Python and/or MATLAB
  • Experience processing and analyzing time-series data
  • Familiarity with machine learning models
  • Basic understanding of electrochemistry
  • Curious, analytical, and motivated to apply theory to real‑world engineering challenges
