We are searching for an Electro-Optical SME to support our Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland location. This position requires onsite work, 5 days a week.

  • Provide expertise in analyzing optical systems and optical detection systems to determine logic-based modulation pattern functions for guidance systems
  • Ability to reverse engineer optical systems to determine operation and spectral capabilities for analysis and exploitation
  • Understanding of optical attenuation concepts such as atmospheric attenuation, scattering and reflection inside optical systems, and optical system throughput
  • Learn to operate all laboratory test equipment to ensure accurate results
  • Degree in electrical engineering or related discipline with a basic understanding of optical concepts such as atmospherics, optical receivers, and simple optical systems
  • Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD
  • Expertise in electrical engineering concepts and applications that are relevant to reverse engineering and emulation of unknown systems
  • Past experience building electrical devices and circuitry to integrate with other systems for the purpose of recording and analyzing signals
  • Experience working with microcontrollers such as Arduino, TI dev boards, or similar as well as their specific IDE’s
  • Familiar with C# and/or MATLAB for automating data collection and analysis and programming electrical components
  • Full understanding of the use and applications of advanced test equipment such as oscilloscopes, waveform generators, power/voltage detectors, lockin amplifiers, and optical test devices
  • Proficient in writing technical documentation in MS word and PowerPoint
  • Ability to be on-site five days a week
  • Top Secret Clearance with ability to obtain SCI
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Deep background in electrical and optical engineering with past work combining both disciplines
  • Experience with in-depth analysis of electrical systems for reverse engineering
  • Understanding of guidance logic and countermeasure applications
