The Electro/Mechanical Technician operates in on-site and on-call capacities as per the production and field support demand of the Devices and Systems departments. Duties include building, installing and repairing equipment, and training end users on how to maintain gas systems for Airgas and its customers nationwide. The technician performs quality control of equipment to ensure performance rates and compliance with established specifications. This high-level technician must also be able to effectively communicate the purpose and value of these Airgas systems with a variety of clientele. The role requires knowledge to provide technical support to end users and works under moderate supervision. Responsibilities include technical ability to assemble, repair, and maintain all Airgas systems, electrical/mechanical expertise in installing, maintaining, testing and troubleshooting equipment, and the ability to differentiate and resolve equipment, electrical mechanical and IT related issues providing root causes and mitigation actions. The technician will liaise with Production, Management, Engineering, IT and safety personnel at all sites and must efficiently plan and execute all service requirements in the field while implementing new installs nationwide. Additional duties include PCB testing, providing technical service support via phone and email, diagnosing, testing, or analyzing the performance of electrical components, assemblies, or systems, setting up and operating standard or specialized testing equipment, obtaining and evaluating all relevant information to handle product and service, packing and processing orders for shipments, and inventory management.
