About The Position

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring an Electro-Mechanical Technician to work on our . Our team works a 4-10 schedule located out of our Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) with every Friday off. You will support research, development, and demonstration of projects from conceptual design through fabrication, assembly, adjustment, and testing prototypes. You will engage as a team member for research equipment development including one-of-a-kind electronic, electro/mechanical, mechanical devices, instrument and control systems, and processes. You will report to the manager of the Site Manufacturing team.

Requirements

  • Level 3: High school diploma, or equivalent, and 4 years of relevant experience, or a 2-year vocational or technical certification and 2 years of relevant experience, or relevant Associate’s degree. Relevant experience to include work in electrical and I/C systems and fabrication.
  • Level 4: High school diploma, or equivalent, and 6 years of relevant experience, or a 2-year vocational or technical certification and 4 years of relevant experience, or relevant Associate’s degree and 2 years of relevant experience. Relevant experience to include work in electrical and I/C systems and fabrication.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

Nice To Haves

  • Light metal welding experience (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding, soldering).
  • CNC programming and operation experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work to drawings, schematics, and work specifications to produce successful outcomes using modern techniques and tools of the trade.
  • Set up and operate test equipment to evaluate the performance of prototypical devices, analyze test data, and recommend changes or modifications to improve performance. Install, troubleshoot, and maintain new equipment.
  • Perform fabrication, machining, welding, brazing, assembly, troubleshooting, and testing of simple to very complex systems.
  • Compile and complete documentation of development and/or test process.
  • Interface directly with engineering, designers, and scientific researchers to help resolve technical issues while providing imaginative and practical solutions to technical problems while maintaining effective customer relationships.
  • Work to applicable work control documents to ensure that work is conducted safely under proper procedures and Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS) guidelines.
  • Participate in work planning walk downs and man-hour estimating.
  • Other duties as assigned.
